Malaria is one of the tropical diseases caused by plasmodium parasite infection. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia still faces unique complexities in malaria control, including in areas that have achieved local malaria elimination such as East Java. This study aims to describe the demographic and clinical characteristics of malaria cases in East Java in 2024. The study design used was a descriptive analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The data used came from malaria case data recorded in the East Java Provincial Health Office Health Profile for 2024 or the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Malaria Surveillance Information System Version 3. The results of the study showed that all reported malaria cases were imported cases. The majority of patients were in the 21-40 age group (58.4%) and male (91.3%), with the most common occupation being TNI/POLRI (27.7%). Clinically, the parasite infection was dominated by Plasmodium vivax (68.8%), with most cases classified as uncomplicated malaria (97.8%). Most patients were found to have no anemia (91.6%). Although most cases are mild, imported malaria still requires continuous vigilance through strengthened surveillance, early detection, and prevention efforts among at-risk groups to maintain the malaria elimination status in East Java.
