Publication Ethics

Jurnal Medicare, ISSN 2828-352X (media online) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. These ethical standards apply to all parties involved in the publication process, including editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher.

1. Duties of Editors

Editorial Decisions

Editors are responsible for making decisions regarding manuscripts submitted to the journal. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's scientific quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and compliance with publication ethics. Editors may consult reviewers or other editorial board members when necessary.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual and scientific content without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political views.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and may only disclose information to authorized parties involved in the editorial and publication process.

Conflict of Interest

Unpublished information contained in submitted manuscripts must not be used for the editor's own research or other purposes without the author's written permission.

2. Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making informed editorial decisions and provides authors with constructive recommendations to improve their manuscripts.

Promptness

Reviewers who are not qualified to evaluate a manuscript or cannot complete the review within the required timeframe should promptly notify the editor and decline the review assignment.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without permission from the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively and constructively. Personal criticism of authors is not acceptable. Reviewers should provide clear assessments supported by appropriate arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited and inform the editor of substantial similarities or overlap with other published works.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline assignments when a potential conflict of interest exists, including competitive, collaborative, institutional, or personal relationships with the authors or organizations involved in the research.

Unpublished information obtained during peer review must not be used for personal research or other purposes.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Reviewers must maintain manuscript confidentiality and must not upload or submit confidential manuscripts to generative AI tools for analysis, evaluation, or processing.

3. Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors must present their research accurately and objectively. Data, methods, results, and conclusions must be reported honestly and sufficiently to allow appropriate assessment and, where possible, replication.

Data Access and Retention

Authors should retain research data for a reasonable period and provide supporting data when reasonably requested by the editor, subject to ethical, privacy, confidentiality, and legal requirements.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work and properly acknowledge or cite the work and words of others. Plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification of data are unacceptable.

Multiple or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal or publish substantially the same research in multiple journals without appropriate justification and disclosure.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must appropriately acknowledge and cite publications that have significantly influenced their research.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research.

The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • all appropriate authors are included;
  • no inappropriate authors are included;
  • all authors have approved the final manuscript; and
  • all authors agree to its submission and publication.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, animals, or other research requiring ethical review must obtain ethical clearance/ethical approval from an appropriate ethics committee where applicable.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose relevant financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation.

All sources of financial support must also be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Work

If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate with the journal to issue a correction or, where necessary, retract the article.

4. Retraction

An article published in Jurnal Medicare may be retracted when there is clear evidence that:

  • the findings are unreliable due to misconduct or significant error;
  • the work has been published elsewhere without appropriate justification or cross-referencing;
  • the article contains plagiarism;
  • the research was conducted or reported unethically; or
  • other circumstances substantially compromise the integrity of the published work.

Retraction decisions are made by the editorial team following appropriate investigation and in accordance with applicable Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

The journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the identified problem.

Jurnal Medicare is committed to protecting the integrity of the scholarly record and maintaining a fair, transparent, confidential, and ethical publication process.
