Abstract

Heart failure is a chronic condition commonly accompanied by various physical symptoms, particularly fatigue, which may interfere with daily activities and contribute to poor sleep quality. Impaired sleep quality can further worsen clinical outcomes and reduce the quality of life of patients with heart failure. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between fatigue and sleep quality among patients with heart failure. A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. A total of 164 heart failure patients were recruited using a total sampling technique based on the Lemeshow formula. Data were collected using the Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), while data analysis was performed using the Gamma correlation test. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents experienced severe fatigue (62.8%) and poor sleep quality (64.6%). The Gamma correlation test indicated a significant relationship between fatigue and sleep quality (p<0.005) with a positive direction and strong correlation strength. This study concludes that higher fatigue levels are associated with poorer sleep quality in heart failure patients. Therefore, nursing interventions focusing on fatigue management are essential to improve sleep quality and overall quality of life among patients with heart failure.
