Abstract

The teaching and learning process is an activity carried out to implement the curriculum of an educational institution in order to influence students to achieve the predetermined educational goals. Several factors can influence students’ academic achievement. The success of the teaching and learning process is influenced by three main factors, namely cognitive ability, achievement motivation, and the quality of learning. The purpose of this study was to improve student learning achievement among second-year students of the D-III Midwifery Study Program at STIKes Maranatha Kupang. This study is classified as inferential research. Based on the location, it is a field study; based on data collection, it is a survey study; based on the time of data collection, it is a cross-sectional study; based on the presence or absence of treatment, it is a quasi-experimental study using a two-group pretest–posttest design; based on its objective, it is a treatment study; and based on the data source, it is primary research. The results of statistical testing using the Paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 at α = 0.05. Since p-value < α, H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. This means that there is an effect of implementing the role-play learning method on learning outcomes in midwifery care for labor and newborns (BBL) among second-year students of the D-III Midwifery Study Program at STIKes Maranatha Kupang in 2025.
