Background: Emesis gravidarum, characterized by nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, may negatively affect the physical and psychological well-being of pregnant women. Prenatal attachment is considered a potential protective factor that may reduce the occurrence of this condition.
Objective: To examine the relationship between prenatal attachment and emesis gravidarum among pregnant women at Gambirsari Community Health Center, Surakarta.
Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 45 third-trimester pregnant women selected through total sampling. Data were collected using the Prenatal Attachment Inventory (PAI) and the Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea (PUQE) questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman's rho correlation test.
Results: A total of 51.1% of respondents had high prenatal attachment, while 88.9% did not experience emesis gravidarum. A statistically significant negative correlation was found between prenatal attachment and emesis gravidarum (p < 0.05; r = −0.521).
Conclusion: Higher prenatal attachment is associated with a lower incidence of emesis gravidarum.
