Abstract

Shoulder pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints experienced by individuals and can interfere with daily activities due to pain and limited range of motion. Management of shoulder pain is not only limited to pharmacological therapy but can also be addressed through complementary therapies such as acupuncture. The purpose of this study was to describe acupuncture care in patients with shoulder pain at Ummi Fitri Therapy Clinic, Bogor. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design involving one participant experiencing shoulder pain, with data collected using a Client Data Sheet (LDK) including Wang, Wen, and Qie examinations. Acupuncture therapy was administered in six sessions with appropriate diagnosis, treatment principles, and selection of acupuncture points. The results showed gradual improvement in the participant’s condition, where by the end of the therapy sessions the shoulder pain had completely resolved, range of motion improved, and sleep quality increased. In conclusion, acupuncture care is effective in reducing shoulder pain and improving physical condition and patient comfort, making it a viable non-pharmacological alternative therapy for managing shoulder pain.
